BUILDING EQUITABLE COMMUNITIES
UWSCMI recognizes the richness and resilience within communities facing deeply embedded injustice. Our
commitment to ALICE households compels us to focus on equity so that every person can access the resources
they need to thrive.
What This Means
We respect and value the experiences and wisdom of people who have faced discrimination and harm, including
BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color), members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities,
youth, and elders.
We celebrate the diversity of people, cultures and backgrounds that make our communities vibrant. We lift
their voices and strengths, especially those affected by injustice, so that everyone has a place at the table.
From wealth inequality to lack of access, we strive to change systems and break down barriers that keep
people from succeeding.
In doing this critical work, we collectively pave the way for a better future for everyone.
