“I had no idea United Way was doing all that.”
It’s a phrase I hear often in conversation with partners, community
members and donors. In many ways, it captures both the challenge and
the opportunity in front of us. The work happening across our region
— connecting people to basic needs resources and helping build
pathways to 昀椀 nancial security — is deeply impactful, and goes beyond
the common perception that United Way is only a fundraiser.

This work is happening at a time of signi昀椀 cant change for the nonpro昀椀 t
sector. Funding cuts to healthcare, food assistance, housing and other
essential supports threaten individuals and families already on the
edge of stability. This is proving catastrophic for the communities that
we live in.

thrive when people are connected to one another and recognize that
we all have a role to play, whether that be through 昀椀 nancial investment,
volunteering, advocating for better access to resources, or simply learning
